In-Depth Questions

  • Can you tell me more about heartwork?

Heartwork closely analyzes how the emotions we attach to our experiences create beliefs, vows, and lies within us. Looking more intentionally at our experiences, from events to the words we hear, helps us learn how our beliefs affect the spirit, soul, behaviors, and even the physical body. From there, we can begin working on emotional growth.

Heartwork encourages faith, but does not require it. At Root Cause Ministry, we offer support and withhold judgment— we meet you where you are, in order to foster growth and processing. Our goal is for all of our clients to experience emotional freedom and resilience. In order to achieve this, we ensure that all of our services are unique to the needs of each individual client.

  • What is muscle testing?

Muscle testing is a tool we use to explore our physical and mental well-being and answer questions about it. By using our knowledge of the subconscious mind, we are able to reveal new information about hidden emotions.

Muscle testing is measuring body energy. Our bodies are made up of energy, which science allows us to measure. Emotions are also energy, and every emotion has its own vibrational frequency. The body's muscles will respond differently based on the body's internal state. Muscle testing is not spiritual—it is scientific. Muscle testing is not a required part of heartwork, but is found to be more efficient.

  • Why did you choose to be a Certified Heartwork Specialist?

The short answer- BECAUSE IT WORKS! As an RN and as a patient receiving care for my own mental health challenges, I am very aware of what a superficial treatment is and what is actually needed to get to the true root of the emotions and behaviours that present. There are pharmaceuticals that are a great fit for some. There are fantastic, proven tools that can assist you through a challenging time. Talk therapy has its place. Psychology and Psychiatry are important disciplines. And Heartwork can compliment all of them or be used independently.

  • What is trauma?

There are many definitions of trauma. We will list a few and then give you our rendition.

Trauma Informed Care Implementation Resource Center: Trauma is a pervasive problem. It results from exposure to an incident or series of events that are emotionally disturbing or life-threatening.

Mind.org.uk: Trauma is when we experience very stressful, frightening or distressing events that are difficult to cope with or out of our control.

American Psychology Association: Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, crime, or natural disaster. Reactions such as shock and denial are typical.

    Meriam Webster:

a: an injury (such as a wound) to living tissue caused by an extrinsic agent

b: a disordered psychic or behavioral state resulting from severe mental or emotional stress or physical injury

    c: an emotional upset

    Our Answer:

Trauma is ANYTHING that changes your framework from the way God designed you to be. This can be works spoken over you. Words spoken about you. A horrific event that you experienced. ANY type of event that is causing you to feel overwhelmed and unable to function in a calm, rational manner. Actual physical trauma will also have an emotional and spiritual component. Often times we hear of BIG T trauma and little T trauma. TRAUMA and (trauma) allow a person to define in their own mind how significant an experience is. The fact of the matter is this— ANY trauma, be it words, violence, an event, an accident, pain, etc can cause us to have behaviors and emotions that we don’t understand.

  • Is trauma generational?

It sure is! We are not neuroscientists, but we know that the body is AMAZING. Epigenetics is a conversation for the experts, but hypotheses are being made that the effects of trauma can be passed in the DNA just the same as a physical predisposition to heart disease or diabetes for example.

  • Are emotions good?

Emotions are actually not just GOOD, they should be CELEBRATED!!! They are a gift from God. In fact, Jesus showed many emotions while on Earth. Emotions are a way to check in with ourselves. They allow us to be aware of ourselves and give us the keys to experience situations in a more constructive manner.

  • So I shouldn’t “stuff" an emotion deep inside and ignore it?

No, No, and NO! They will eventually rear their ugly head! This is not a license to believe every emotion that you have. Nor is it permission to act out. Emotions lie. They can tell stories that aren’t true. We learn that all emotions have a frequency, just like sound.

  • Will you be diagnosing me and prescribing treatments and medications?

Absolutely NOT. Root Cause Ministry strictly uses muscle testing to identify events and emotions, and subsequently the belief attached to those.

  • Do I have to be religious, or believe in God to be a client?

No. We are believers, but will not impose that on you. Muscle testing is not spiritual. It can be done exclusive of a belief in God.
